Workman Leads Chargers at Fighting Scot Invitational

Jaeden Workman (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) shot a second-round 84 for a top-20 finish to lead the Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team at the Fighting Scot Invite this weekend at Gibson Woods. 

Workman followed an opening-round 89 on Saturday with an 84 on Sunday to tie for 20th at 173. Emily Franzoni (Canton, Ill./Canton) shot 89 each day to place 29th. Hayley Guilinger (Thomson, Ill./West Carroll) led the Chargers on Saturday with an 88 and added a 92 on Sunday to tie for 33rd.

Madison Newton (Erie, Ill./Erie) tied for 33rd at 94-89-183, and Renee Scheider (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) 94-96-190 tied for 45th. Kaylyn Stearns (Gilson, Ill./Knoxville) had rounds of 118 and 116 to place 61st.

The Chargers shot 360 in the first round and shaved six strokes in the second round to total 714 for the tournament and place seventh.

Augustana won with a two-day total of 659. Haley Hoekstra of host Monmouth was medalist with 80-79-159 to win by two strokes.
